Writing Erotica

Erotica ~~~ a word that conjures up an array of feelings and even more mental images. For many of us those thoughts, feelings and imaginings are unfortunately in conflict with the beliefs and mores we grew up with.

The thing is, it's fantasy, it's not real, and fantasy can be fun and quite freeing. Most of us have a pretty good imagination where sex is concerned. But honestly, would most of us do 3/4 of what we imagine? Heck no! Half of us would be arrested and the other half divorced. When we have a particularly hot fantasy that might involve more than two people, or an improbable or exotic setting, most of us probably aren't interested in really doing it. We just enjoy thinking about it.

Part of the fun of having a secret sexual fantasy is that it's ours to keep. We can tuck it away in our minds just for us, for now or later, and no one ever has to know about it. Boring meetings and long car trips are the times I most often retrieve mine.

I write erotica. I weave sexy stories/fantasies in my head, but instead of keeping them all tucked away, I pour some of them out on paper and share them. I know, I know -- Freud would have something to say about that, probably in the realms of voyeurism and exhibitionism.

Hmmm - Once upon a time there was this hot psychiatrist who couldn't help observing his neighbors while they... (and another story idea is born).
